Month-long photography festival kicks off in Chiang Mai
Fill your February with photography.
Thailand's Northern capital is currently in the midst of the F/28 Chiang Mai Month of Photography Festival (www.f-28.org), a month-long celebration of photography.
In its third year, the event is full of exhibitions, workshops and competitions involving 166 artists at 18 venues all around Chiang Mai.
Highlights include photo-focused documentary screenings at Old Chiang Mai, the charming Thai-Lanna restaurant open since 1971 that specializes in khantoke, a traditional Northern-style of dining that involves large platters and low tables.
Next Monday (Feb 8) there will be slideshow screening curated by Suthep Kritsanavarin, a decorated photographer whose work has been published in New York Times, International Herald Tribune, National Geographic Thailand and Japan Times.
Workshops focus on topics like studio portraiture, food photography, alt photo processes and drone photography.
Are you a budding photographer? There's also a Photo–A–Day Challenge which asks you to go out and shoot a picture under a specific topic that change daily for the chance to win prizes. See the full list of subjects here and get more updates on the whole festival at www.fb.com/F28.CNX.MOP.
