Book a room at Nimmanheimin’s new
N Chiang Mai (088-266-9331,
goo.gl/21GwJ9) and you’ll be staying right at the heart of Chiang Mai coffee culture.
The basic, raw concrete rooms sit above a cafe-slash-barbershop that deals in pan-roasted, honey-processed beans from Chiang Mai’s Om Koi district and Phu Rua in Loei, the coldest region of Isaan. Guys with tattoos and pompadours will also fix you a vintage hairdo at the attached barbershop, which will soon launch its own brand of water-based pomade.
Rooms cost B1,100-B1,400 for a suite (sleeps three), and come with a free drink worth up to B60. Don’t miss the signature boozy coffees like Blackjack (an Americano with Jack Daniel’s and syrup, B120) and Johnnie Cocoa (Johnnie Walker Black Label and cocoa, B120).
