World Vision's charity cycle to China, Ride for Change, is set to take place in April 2014.

After all the holiday indulgence why not get the new year off to a positive start by signing up (and shaping up) for World Vision's charity cycling trip to China. Ride for Change will take place from 20 to 26 April, in support of children and the community in China's Yongsheng county.

The 265km route, with a 12km incline towards the end, will lead cyclists through the ancient city of Dali in Yunnan and rural Yongsheng in Lijiang, passing through villages and the surrounding scenic landscape with notable spots like Chenghai Lake. Along the way, participants will be able to meet the children that the charity helps in Yongsheng and from the Bai and Naxi tribes in Dali and Lijiang.

Sheryl Huang, Communication Executive of World Vision tells us: "Cyclists go on a route that is not just beautiful, they will also get to witness first-hand the positive transformation in the lives of the poor and vulnerable in Yongsheng, due to World Vision's work in the community. Most Singaporeans, being city dwellers, will get to appreciate going back to nature. It’ll be more than a ride for a special cause."

The entry fee for each person is $3,000, which includes return airfare, transport, meals, accommodation and some memorabilia. For each person that joins the trip, Shangrila Adventure will also donate $1,500 to the cause, helping the charity to build new water systems, refurbish classrooms and much more.

Those that are interested in joining this charity ride can sign up online.
