Changi Airport emerges tops once again at 2014 World Airport Awards
Changi Airport picks up the World's Best Airport accolade for the second year in a row.
In this week's "news that hardly comes as suprise"—Changi Airport has been named as the World's Best Airport for the second year running at the World Airport Awards, recently held by Skytrax in Barcelona. Besides that, the airport also clinched the title of Best Airport for Leisure Amenities, and it's not too difficult to see why (few airports around the world provide gym, foot reflexology and nail care facilities, for instance).
In other news, the airport will also be implementing self-boarding gates at its gatehold rooms, which promise to reduce boarding time by up to 50%. Passengers only need to scan their boarding passes against the barcode readers before boarding their flights, instead of having to seek clearance with ground staff. Trials for these self-boarding gates are currently underway at Terminal 2 for selected Lufthansa flights, and they've purportedly been highly successful thus far.
