Bangkok Airways (www.bangkokair.com) has rolled out an additional flight between Bangkok and Vientiane (Laos) for a total of two flights daily.

The first of the hour-and-fifteen-minute flights leaves Bangkok at 9:45am and the second at 5:35pm. The B5,555 round-trip tickets include 20kg baggage.

Now that Luang Prabang during the high season has been spoiled by its own popularity, Vientiane is gaining a reputation among travelers out to see the more local side of sleepy and quaint Laotian life. Try on traditional Vientiane wear, eat Laos style som tam and soak up the the slow life from a cafe on the banks of the Mekong.
