Following the quiet termination of the Airport Express Bus (B150/trip), Airport Rail Link (ARL) Express Line is now ditching its Makkasan station as its sole express departure hub. In June, the SARL express link started running between Suvarnabhumi Airport and its Phayathai Station every 30 minutes, as opposed to the original plan for the express link to depart--and check-in--only from the Makkasan station. The Suvarnabhumi-Makkasan Terminal Station is still in operation every 20 minutes but since the closure of the Bangkok Airways checki-on, THAI Airways remains the sole airline allowing passengers to check in from the train station. The Makkasan station also suffers from limited access to public transporatation (it's a long walk to MRT Petchaburi), in marked contrast with the Phaya Thai station's BTS connection. A one-way B90 option has also been introduced, on top of the B150 roundtrip ticket, which had to be used in one day, making it useless for most travelers.
