Bintan's Angsana is doing fancy seafood dinners on a kelong
Plus, it's only an hour away.
Only an hour-long boat ride away from Singapore, Bintan is an ideal place for a quick weekend escapade. This time, Angsana Bintan has a treat for foodies, in addition to all the sports, massages and chilling out you can do there.
The resort has a huge dinner spread on board a traditional Kelong—a local fisherman’s house on the water—located a short distance away from the private beach. There's a huge menu of super fresh seafood like coral fish, tiger prawn and lobster that's prepared Asian-style, as well as Western staples like Angus beef tenderloin and Mediterranean dips like hummus and moutabel. The luxe Kelong experience also comes with a private chef and waiters with refreshing cocktails, too. Dinners go for $270 and are available until Dec as long as you book a room with the hotel.
If that's not enough food, the hotel is rolling out a Soul Food Weekend (Oct 23-25) where guests can get their hands dirty by cooking up traditional dishes with local produce. There are activities like Kelong fishing, collecting Gong Gong shells and shopping for produce at an eco farm. There's also a sunset cooking demo with a large bonfire barbecue.
