One of the biggest art fests in the region, Singapore Art Week 2015 (hosted by the National Arts Council, the Singapore Economic Development Board and the Singapore Tourism Board) plans to woo art lovers from all over the world with this nine-day long extravaganza. It includes over 100 events—art fairs, art walks, block parties, discussions, exhibitions and gallery openings. Highlights include the Aliwal Urban Arts Festival (Jan 17), Arnoldii How-To ART 101 Talks (Jan 17-25) and the “Art After Dark” Party @ Gillman Barracks on Jan 23.
When: Jan 17-25
This museum-like art talk returns for the fifth year as part of Singapore Art Week. The event features 158 galleries from 29 countries, whose collections include the work of acclaimed local artists such as Suzann Victor’s Contours of a Rich Manoeuvre (2006). Among the highlight public lectures is “In Conversation with Gilbert & George,” during which the icons of Britain’s art world discuss contemporary art from 1967 onwards.
When: Jan 22-25
One of the region’s most anticipated indie music festivals returns, with a solid lineup to boot. There’s American musician and multi-instrumentalist St Vincent, Australian downtempo artist Chet Faker, synthpop heroes Future Islands, Swedish electro maestros Little Dragon and breakout girl-wonder FWA Twigs, among other acts.
When: Jan 24
