This May 17-25 used book fans of all types will descend on the historic building to hunt for cheap reads.

One of the best book-hunting events of the year starts this weekend when Neilson Hays Library kicks off its annual book sale this Saturday, which will continue to run for over a week until Sunday May 25 (with the exception of May 19).

The event has long been a yearly highlight for the city’s used book fans, as the historic library puts on a daily rotating selection of donated books and a curated selection from its own collection in a mixture of Thai and English—prices start at B20.

The offering includes everything from historical deep dives, thrillers, cookbooks, and pretty much anything you could be looking for at a used book sale, with all of the proceeds going towards maintaining the 103-year-old library building. In 2022, after an extensive renovation that finished in 2018, the building earned the Award of Distinction at the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

If you are one of those folks who still likes to collect old CDs, DVDs, and magazines, there are plenty of those to thumb through, as there are every year. The sale also includes a range of children’s books for the little ones.

Because of the sale, most of the library’s normal activities, with the exception of the Children’s Story Time event, are on hold until after May 25.

For more info, check out the event’s Facebook page and get ready to dig for some dusty old finds at the sale.

Neilson Hays Library, 195 Surawong Rd., 02-233-4999. The event runs from 9:30am-5pm daily (closed on May 19)
