The comfortable and international sneaker and fashion brand New Balance announced the closure of all stores in Thailand yesterday.
Visitors to the Central Rama 9 branch will notice a sign thanking customers and announcing a permanent closure, according to previous
media reports. Similarly, the Line account for New Balance sent a message saying they are temporarily closed.
The expiration of the import and export contract with the brand’s supplier, CRC Sports, led to the sudden closure, and a new buyer could well bring the brand back to Thailand as soon as later next year.
The news comes as a shock to fans of the brand, including those who use it for fashion and sports. In particular, the New Balance 530 model sold out following the support of a number of celebrities, including
Kendal Jenner. Customers can, however, still buy Balance shoe models through the Supersport website and online.
With more than 900 models, the modern New Balance brand comes from Boston, Massachusetts and was founded in 1906 as the New Balance Arch Support Company.
