Haven't checked out habitat by honestbee yet? There's a MasterChef-sized reason to visit this weekend
Sashi Cheliah returns to Singapore
Whether you’re a foodie or an avid follower of tech and startup news, it would’ve been hard to miss the buzz—no pun intended—surrounding the opening of habitat by honestbee. Located at 34 Boon Leat Terrace in Pasir Panjang, habitat by honestbee sees the grocery and food delivery app go brick and mortar with what can be best described as a “tech-enabled, multi-sensory grocery and dining destination”.
But being smart is just part of the deal here; they also intend to put a distinct spin on the typical supermarket run by holding events that will inspire customers. Case in point: They’ll be hosting another newsmaker this weekend—MasterChef Australia 2018 winner Sashi Cheliah.
Sashi Cheliah
Born in Singapore, Sashi moved to Australia six years ago and made headlines in both countries this July as he claimed the coveted title with dishes that anyone familiar with Singaporean cuisine would quickly recognize. The newly minted MasterChef will be at habitat by honestbee on Nov 24 and 25 to show you how to make two of those dishes for yourself—sambal prawn with crispy prawn heads and herb salad (Nov 24, 2pm and 5pm) and roast lamb with pea puree and beer-battered cauliflower (November 25, 2pm and 5pm). Sashi will also be on hand for a meet and greet with fans at 3pm and 6pm on both days. The first 30 customers who spend a minimum of $30 each day will get access to a priority queue.
Now that you’ve learned from the champ himself, you can pick up all the ingredients you need to recreate his dishes in a curated corner of habitat by honestbee. But don’t stop there, there are around 20,000 other items for you to browse through and 1,000 of them are exclusive. From snow-aged and chocolate-fed beef to Singapore-sourced seafood and even cookbooks, you’ll find it all here. That’s one way to get a head start on your festive season cooking plans. When you’re ready to go, you’ll get to experience two world firsts courtesy of honestbee’s leading-edge technology: a seamless, cashless checkout and fully automated, robot-powered collection points.

And that’s still not the end of what habitat by honestbee has to offer, there are more than 15 F&B concepts to discover here including California-inspired eatery Moss, souffle pancake specialist Poofy by Riz Labo and craft-beer spot White Moustache. Expect menus to change often; they might have only been open for a month or so, but Poofy by Riz Labo has already introduced gluten-free pancakes made with soy milk and rice flour, Campfire has added Australian Rosedale Ruby and Beef City Black steaks to its set lunch menu, Hinoki now serves Kyoto-roasted matcha lattes and Lazy Loaf has launched a new high tea menu featuring kueh ko swee, lobster rolls and St Honore cakes.
Sashi’s visit is part of habitat by honestbee’s “Love is in the Air” campaign, celebrating the heritage and nostalgia in our favorite dishes—and the people we share them with.
