Xin Tian Di proves that not all mooncakes are sweet
Crowne Plaza's Chinese restaurant rolls out mooncakes filled with XO scallops. Yes, scallops. And they taste pretty good.
For this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, Xin Tian Di’s chef Lam Kok Weng has seriously jazzed up his mooncakes with the addition of the restaurant’s XO sauce.
While we were not so impressed with Xin Tian Di’s custard mooncake (see our full custard mooncake showdown here), we can’t deny that the restaurant’s signature assorted nuts with dried scallops XO is a different matter--it tastes way better than expected, with a nice savory note added to the crunchy, nutty filling.
Limited to only 1,000 pieces, this mooncake sets you back B188 per a 150g piece and is available at Xin Tian Di and Short Cuts Deli.
