Celebrate SG50 with these drink deals in Singapore
The National Day long weekend means you have lots more time to indulge in lots of cocktails and impressive fireworks displays.
With SG50 and the big National Day Parade around the corner, here's where to celebrate with a tipple or two. And some of the places may even include views of the fireworks display on Aug 9, too.
The swanky club-lounge has a bunch of things happening over the National Day long weekend. First off, there's a 50-minute free flow of house Champagne starting at noon, buckets of Tiger beer going for $50 and BBQ fare like chilli crab burgers and chicken satay burgers going for $18 a pop. There's also a special National Day cocktail that's none other than a twist of the SIngapore Sling going for $25 a glass. And do we even need to get started on the views? Aug 7-10.
If you're in the mood to party the night away in a vertiginous club, you can do so at this 45th floor club. Not only will this Raffles Place building have views of the fireworks, but a bottle of Moet & Chandon bubbly is going for $69 after 10pm. Aug 9.
Carlton Hotel's bar has a signature cocktail: Gravitate, made with with vodka, Malibu rum, Amaretto and lime juice going for $17 a glass ($11 during happy hour). There's also a three-hour wine buffet ($60) happening every Monday to Saturday where you'll get to choose from bottles of Oyster Bay sparkling and Pinot Noir. Beer lovers can also get a bucket of six beers for $50, and mix-and-match bottles of Heineken, Carlsberg, Asahi and Corona. Through Aug.
The Japanese rooftop bar and restaurant has a special Jubilee package where you get a bottle of Moet & Chandon Champagne and Belvedere vodka or Glenmorangie 10-year-old whiskey for $500. The alfresco space by the bay also has a view of the fireworks. Aug 9.
While drinking in a mall isn't the sexiest thing to do for National Day, this tucked away bar makes great drinks. Chief Mixologist Yutaka Nakashima whips up eight Singapore-inspired cocktails like a prawn soup cocktail using prawn broth, a teh tarik cocktail with Earl Grey tea vodka and condensed milk, as well as an interesting chicken rice cocktail with chicken broth, chilli, ginger and sake. Cocktails hover around $20. Through Aug.
This Ann Siang Hill staple is shaking up their rendition of the Singapore Sling called the Sun Sling 50 made with gin, Benedictine DOM, triple sec, pineapple reduction, Angostura bitters and topped with a cherry herring, as well as charred pineapple. While it sounds like a mouthful, it's also only going for $10. Through Aug.
Seafood aside, this Marina Bay restaurant is also shaking up a special Singapore Sling for the Jubilee. Plus, the second Singapore Sling is 50% off, so there's no reason for you to stop at one. Aug 9.
Over at Raffles City, Luke Mangan's tapas bar has three hours of free flow house pour wines from the barrel going at $50. And if you need something to line your stomach, you can get five tapas for $50, too. Aug 8-10.
