And it has tons of American-style smoked briskets from the guys behind Burnt Ends.

The Amoy-Telok Ayer hood is busy again. Hot on the heels of the Spiffy Dapper move from Boat Quay, there's a new restaurant/bar that opened its doors this past weekend.

Meat Smith is a smokehouse. It's early days yet but the place promises tons of smoked meats, bourbon, beer and picklebacks (that is, shots of whisky chased with shots of pickle brine).

After their official launch party on Sunday, the restaurant is now in full swing. The blacksmith-inspired brick and concrete space houses two large smokers pushing out American-style meats like brisket smoked with lychee wood and other barbecued favorites. Plus, the kitchen's under the care of American head chef Andrew Baldus who knows his way round meats.

Despite cozy appearances, it's a "dining concept" by big restaurant group, Unlisted Collection, of Restaurant Ember and LongPlay fame. Still, we appreciate their uncanny ability to do places we not-so-secretly wish would come to Singapore.

The 60-seater casual diner has tons of communal tables and doesn't take reservations. It's first come, first serve, so expect long queues akin to Market Grill.

Stay tuned for more information (and pictures actually taken from the inside).
