The young chef behind the successful boat noodle and dimsum joint, Boran, is now putting his Cordon Bleu education to good use with a Western dessert café called Chu (2/F, Exchange Tower, Sukhumvit Rd., 02-663-4554. BTS Asok. Open daily 10am-8:30pm). Since Chirayu Na Ranong knows the difference between cocoa mix and a good bar of dessert chocolate, we’re salivating at the idea of sampling classics like muffins, brownies and cheesecakes, but also less run-of-the-mill treats like Spanish churros with a chocolate (or dulce de leche) dipping sauce and the Mexican chilli hot chocolate (B100). All desserts are made on-site and you can hold them to it, thanks to their open kitchen. Expect sandwiches and brunchy foods in the near future.
