Samyan’s Autumn Scoop serves comfort ice cream made from local ingredients
Icy scoops with a warm heart and local ingredients.
Launched just nine months ago, the artisanal ice cream shop Autumn Scoop has followed the successful online business to pop ups with a physical store at the community mall Slowcombo just behind Samyan Mitrtown.
Co-founder and ice cream lover Nichapat “Prae” Bundechanan explains that the name derives from the coziness of the season—cool but not teeth-chattering.
Keeping with their name, their ice cream is, of course, icy, but comes with a warm heart. When coming up with the flavors, the team starts with the ingredients first and then they source and contact farmers directly without using a middle man.
“Almost 100% of the ingredients are from local farmers. Except the sweet potato topping that we directly contact from Kagoshima farmers,” Prae tells BK.
The first line up of flavors includes rice, sesame, banana muffin cheese, and chrysanthemum. But newer additions like matcha challenge the staff to stick to their philosophy by avoiding well known producers and importing from Japan, sourcing quality tea leaves from Chaing Mai.
Similarly, when friends of the brand requested sherbet flavors, they avoid the obvious strawberry or mixed berries and shine the spotlight on mulberries instead. Their scoops also don't contain any preservatives or artificial flavors.
We recommend the Rice & Shine from Ubonrat Chathanee; the flavor is mild and fragrant and packed with rice grains—similar to a rice pudding.
Banana Says Cheese is another hit order that’s especially popular with children. They use lady finger bananas and churn it with chunks of homemade banana muffin and cheese for that extra thickness.
For something a bit lighter try the Chrysanthemum. The flowery base bursts from the first bite. Avoiding brown sugar and pairing with honey, the ingredients are bound together more evenly.
Also available are the parfait bowls. Start by selecting your scoop size ranging from small (B75) and medium (B150) to large (B225).
We opted for the crowd fav Berry ‘n Grains Greek’s Comfort (B140) which consists of a baby mulberry black tea scoop and a yogurt ice cream lying on top of a bed of coconut crisps and crunchy granola. To top it off, Autumn Scoop torches slices of golden banana with sugar for that extra caramelized sweetness.
For those who can’t make it to Slowcombo, Autumn Scoop is open for deliveries via Line and Grabfood. For more information, visit Autumn Scoop.
