The guy behind the durian creme brulee opens a new locally-inspired cafe
Who knew durian creme brulee would be such a hit? This chef's new locally-inspired dishes may just be a second home run.
If you've never tried Chung Deming's famous durian creme brulee, you may be missing out on the perfect marriage of East-meets-West flavors: the velvety smooth creme brulee with a perfectly crisp caramelized shell which is offset by the pungent durian.
Either way, now you don't have to chase those elusive creme brulees any longer as they've opened their first brick-and-mortar cafe The Quarters at Icon Village. The locally-inspired menu fuses familiar flavors with Western dishes to get items like a buah keluak with chicken capellini pasta; Umami Babi, a slow-braised pulled pork collar stuffed in man tous; and even shoestring fries with a salted egg aioli.
No points for guessing what's for dessert. His signature durian creme brulee, which will also be available in safer flavors like vanilla. On top of that, they've got artisanal coffees for those who need their java fix.
