Gourmet food purveyor The Providore has just launched in the Tan Boon Liat building.

Gourmet food store The Providore is now open in the Tan Boon Liat building, by founders Bruce Chapman and Robert Collick, who also started Jones the Grocer (but sold the business off last year).

Some of the items carried include specialty canned fish—such as Callipo chuck tuna in olive oil ($17.50) and Conserva De Cambados octopus in olive oil ($15.90)—marinated olives ($13.50) by UK-based brand Olives Et Al (in flavors like rosemary-garlic and cumin-coriander) as well as New Zealand honey from artisan brand J.Friend and Co.

There’s also craft beer from American brand Stillwater Artisanal, Scottish brewery BrewDog and Japan’s Hitachino Nest (including their unusual alcoholic ginger ale).

Plus, the company is set to launch The Providore Mandarin Gallery Cafe (#02-05/06/07 Mandarin Gallery, 333A Orchard Rd.) in July, a dining spot serving breakfast and lunch, plus a dinner menu of small plates.
