The newly opened Mandopop (Oriental Residence, 110 Wireless Rd., Bangkok, 02-125-9000) promises to change your perception of Chinese restaurants, from the décor, with its modern, moodily-lit design that still features plenty of Chinese touches, to the food. The kitchen is led by Chef Adian Chua from Singapore, who says he’s looking to modernize Chinese cuisine in terms of presentation while maintaining authenticity through traditional recipes and techniques. Signature dishes included the steamed prawn dumplings with spinach skin (B140) and the stir-fried vegetables with homemade spinach tofu (B200). The set lunch and dinner from B850.
