Thai fried chicken and other trashy goodness on Ann Siang Road at last.

Odette may be the fine dining opening of the year (the century, the millenium!) but on the trashy-chic end of the spectrum, the winner is Bird Bird. The bespectacled golden boy of the local dining scene, Bjorn Shen, is finally opening his temple of Thai chicken on Nov 24 at 18 Ann Siang Road.

The decor kind of draws elements from Thai street stalls, but obviously to riotously colorful and hipster-chic effect. The menu is filled with grammar errors, the tablecloths are gaudy-kitschy-cute a la Thai and the walls are covered with graffiti and murals. Of course, there are no reservations, so you'll have to put your name on the list during the dinner rush. We expect snaking queues.

The menu is still being finalized, but we're told prices will range from $10-$35. In terms of dishes, obviously you should expect essentials like the gai tod (fried chicken) and gai yang (grilled chicken) and his pop-up mainstay khao soi (northern curried noodles). Other confirmed dishes include some less classic inventions like the basil duck tater tots and the chicken skin sundae. Shen's piece de resistance is The Schwarzenegger of Som Tum, a huge platter of crispy chicken skins, fried anchovies, salted eggs, with green papaya somewhere in the mix. If you can't take the spices (weak!), there's Thai milk tea slushies and beers to go around.

Their Facebook is ablaze with recipe testing pictures, so do check it out before you head down on Tuesday, Nov 24.
