3 new restaurants to check out in Singapore this week
Foie gras banh mi, herb-crusted scallops and four-course degustations that don't break the bank...much.
It's not every day we can afford to eat at fine dining restaurants. Luckily, there have been a bunch of new concepts popping up that plate up conceptual food without the price tag. Here are three new semi-fine dining places that don't blow the budget.
Celeb chef David Myers' new Marina Bay Sands restaurant isn't about uppity service and constricted food. Here, it's all about sharing small plates of East-meets-West food and craft cocktails. There is caramel popcorn with togarashi, and foie gras banh mi that can be had at the bar or in the dining room. Plus, a majority of plates don't exceed the $20 mark.
Formerly located in a condo building, the French-inspired restaurant has moved into cooler digs. Taking over the space formerly occupied by rooftop alfresco bar Halo, the restaurant focuses on degustation-type menus that start at $90 for a four-course dinner. Although offerings change seasonally, there are creations like scallop with smoked trout and shrimp and Berkshire pig with granny smith apple and potatoes.
Tras Street gets yet another restaurant serving prettily-plated creations. The Italian- and French-leaning restaurant has dishes like pistachio and herb-crusted scallops; foie gras mousse; and roasted duck confit. Degustation menus come in the form of six- ($98) and eight-courses ($128).
