You don’t really have to leave Singapore to have a slice of Japan, especially with the onslaught of Japanese food enclaves, restaurants, shopping places (can you believe they’re already opening a second Don Don Donki here?) and what-have-you. But this one takes the cake: two halls at Suntec Convention Centre will be turned into a massive Japan Park, bringing the best of food, touristy things, tech, lifestyle, live performances and more from all 47 prefectures on Aug 4-5. 

They're still in the stages of teasing the line-up, but they're already touting this as an event for both "die-hard and casual fans of Japan". The entire "park" will be segregated into six zones, with the WA-Shiok Gourmet Festa featuring exclusive food menus and exquisite Japanese food and beverages curated by the same organizers of Food Japan (which will take place later in October); and the Omakase Stage seeing a couple of traditional and popular dance and music performances.

Other highlights include a performance by Nishikawa Ukon, a third generation director of the elite Nishikawa Company and a renowned practitioner of Classical Japanese Dance; a live performance by Poppin'Party from BanG Dream!, as well as singer Kiwako Ashimine; and appearances by pro-wrestler Jushin Thunder Liger and for some reason, Joseph Schooling.
