It's a sad week for the F&B industry as two long-time favorites call it quits.

As well as cocktail bar Nektar closing, Chef Shen Tan has also departed Mod Sin restaurant Ujong at Raffles Hotel.

After about six months of Chef Tan's Mod Sin venture at Ujong, she's officially moving on from the brick-and-mortar restaurant industry. The former director-turned-hawker-turned-chef felt it was the right time to "take a step back from the day-to-day operations of running a kitchen." Although we weren't the biggest fans of Ujong's execution, especially after her slam-dunk over at Wok & Barrel, we're still sad to see the passionate chef go.

As far as her future plans, Tan says she'll be focusing on her new role as a Culinary Director at Gastrogig, a creative gastronomic collective that specializes in pop-ups and one-off foodie events, where she'll be developing the creative menus for events and pop-ups. Additionally, she'll also teach cooking classes at ToTT.

For those of you who'll miss her Mod Sin cuisine, worry not as she's keeping close to her culinary signature and will be consulting with restaurants who want to infuse a Mod Sin touch into their menus. For now, look out for her next pop-up, Aporkalypse IV (a pork-centric extravaganza). Details are still sketchy, but we'll let you know more as they emerge.
