Truffles and steak galore: new dinners to book now
Bored of the same old restaurants and menus? These specially-crafted offerings should tickle your fancy whether you're a wine connoiseur or a carnivore.
Truffles and wine? Check. Lots of grade A meat? Double check. These coming weeks promise to be full of equally delicious and intriguing dinners.
Wine shop Merchants' five-course menu is paired with Towerhill Estate's award-winning Cabernet and Riesling wines. This truffle-centric menu takes advantage of freshly-harvested Perigord truffles and Western Australia's famed boutique winery.
This five-course degustation menu includes classic dishes like grilled ocean seabass with lemon thyme cashew crust and wagyu sirloin with twice-baked potato and salsa verde. Courses are paired with the restaurant's new range of Italian boutique wines like a 2010 Sangiovese di Romagna Riserva.
Jason Atherton's beautiful restaurant Pollen also gets in on the action with a seven-course wagyu dinner supplied by Japan's Toriyama farm. This decadent dinner is a meat lovers' dream where all courses incorporate the much-prized grade A4 beef. Although it may not come cheap, the umami-rich menu includes beef tartare with oysters, caviar and toast; a rib eye with braised snails; and braised shin shank with bone marrow junsai and dashi.
Black Angus beef is the star of the show at this dinner with dishes like tartar with raspberry and confit egg yolk and chuck ribs with juniper and bourbon infusion. Wine pairings this time are courtesy of Spain's Miguel Torres winery.
