We briefly reported the news a while back and here's a full low-down: AirAsia will start charging a check-in fee for all bookings from Sep 21 onwards. The B100 fee will apply for all flights departing from all airports where Air Asia operates, except Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul and Tehran. Passengers can now conduct a free self check-in, which is available on the web and on smart phones. For web check-in you just log onto the website (via your computer or mobile phone), check-in and print out your boarding pass. For mobile check-in you will need to have an iPhone, a BlackBerry or an Android phone with the Air Asia application downloaded. You will receive a QR barcode, which you will then scan to print out the boarding pass at the airport. Both check-in procedures are available from seven days to one hour before your flight. Passengers with luggage can drop their belongings at baggage drop-off counters at least one hour before flight time. More information on www.airasia.com.
