The tour starts at Exit 1 of Yuyuan metro station, and takes you through the Yuyuan Bazaar, as leader Daniel Newman imparts nuggets of history with his customary charisma. He introduces the Yu Garden as you went your way around the pavilions, paths and bridges, stopping to show photos and maps on his iPad. At the City God Temple, he helps you find your own persona Daoist protector, and explains the complexities of the religion in a way that you'll actually understand.

Newman Tours are a great way to see the city and find out weird and wonderful facts along the way. It's casual enough that you don't feel as if you're on an organized tour, and fun details and extras make it well worth the price. Check their website for more details.
