The top 50 comes out in two weeks.

Ahead of their big announcement in Madrid, World’s 50 Best has announced their list of 51-100 bars, including two Bangkok spots we all know and love.

Just barely edged out of the top 50 list this year is Mahaniyom at No.57. The brainchild of Ronnaporn “Neung” Kanivichaporn and the crew from Thonglor’s Backstage, Mahaniyom is known for its wild, complex drinks that chase bold flavors with nose-to-tail ingredients. This is a precipitous drop from last year’s World’s 50 Best ranking, where it came in at 19. Earlier this year, Neung took home the Best Bartender Award at BK’s BAD Awards.

The only other Bangkok spot on the 2024 list is Vesper, which comes in at No.85, dropping from No.55 last year. This Bangkok mainstay has been busy this year and opened up a new spot, 4th Wall, which is turning heads for these mixologist masters in a whole new way.

On Oct 22, the World’s 50 Best will launch an event to announce the top 50 in Madrid. BKK Social Club, which was Bangkok’s highest rated bar of 2023 at No.16, is a favorite to be on the top 50 list. Missing from this list this year is Tropic City, which came in 66th last year, so they may well be on their way to the top 50. Another dark horse is Bar Us, which didn’t feature in 2023, but was No.21 on Asia’s 50 Best this year.

Singapore topped the Asia listings for the World’s 50 Best 51-100 this year, with the Lion City claiming three spots, and Hong Kong, Japan and Thailand grabbing two. Sri Lanka also marked its first entry on the list with Smoke & Bitters from Hiriketiya.
