One of the world’s oldest wineries is in town for a one-of-a-kind wine tasting event this November
Penfolds, a 180-year-old winemaker from Australia, is coming to Bangkok and is putting on a tasting event like you haven’t seen before.
Bangkok is getting a new, immersive wine tasting event, thanks to one of the world’s oldest Australian wineries, the 180-year-old Penfolds, this Nov 5-10 at The Forum at Gaysorn Amarin. The event, titled “Transcend by Penfolds” will showcase a total of eight wines from its “Luxury & Icons” range, traversing the soils of Australia, France, and the United States. To complement the tasting sessions, Penfolds Group Winemaker Steph Dutton will narrate the sessions accompanied by audio soundscapes by Australian artist Jake Meadows and visual effects by two large creative studios, Entropico Creative and the Sydney-based Babekuhl.
The session will begin in France with a wine made in partnership with Dourthe Bordeaux, one of the region’s most respected winemaking groups. This marks Penfolds' return to the French wine region that inspired the development of the brand’s iconic Grange by its first Chief Winemaker, Max Schubert.
Next up is the US collection, highlighting a 20-year effort by Penfolds to explore California’s rich soils. This will include the legendary Bin 149 ‘Wine of the World’ Cabernet Sauvignon, which blends grapes from Napa Valley and South Australia.
Each session will end with a showcase of the brand’s strong Australian heritage with a taste of its world-famous Grange, widely considered to be one of the country’s most collectable wines. Before that, all guests will be served with a Penfolds x Thiénot Rosé Champagne Sorbet curated by Magill Estate Restaurant in collaboration with Peter Gago, Penfolds' Chief Winemaker, to cleanse the palate before moving on to enjoy the full spectrum of complex aromatics and flavors that Grange is famous for.
