Thai pescatarian hotpot and fine cut barbeque with a view.

Koh Kret is a nice little weekend getaway, but it doesn’t change much. Go to Chitbeer, walk the alleys, call it a day. Well, now the Park Kret River Club has a relaxing community space with lush greens and a front row seat for the Chao Phraya River.

This first launch period features “Pla Joom” a shabu shabu spot which focuses on their all-Thai fish produce and a garden barbecue from Sloane’s butcher shop.

The community area is spacious, decked out with shops inspired by traditional wooden Thai houses you’d find along the river bank but with a little contemporary flair. In the evening, you get a romantic view of the sunset.

Garden barbecue stoves are found at the entrance for fun family activities, and you can rent out one of the grills and select your preferred Sloane’s red meat—from tomahawk to striploin—and bring it to the fiery pit.

The “Pla Joom” restaurant offers four choices of soup: its signature fish broth, pickled vegetable, soybean paste, and tom yum. Since it's 100% local fish, you’ll get some familiar catches like the sea bass and grouper, but if you’re lucky, you’ll be in for some rare seasonal finds like the golden snapper, redtail catfish, or the long-nosed emperor fish.

And of course, a Thai seafood meal isn’t complete without some sauce. Here, their dips include fermented bean curd, soybean paste, and classic seafood sauce.

Apart from their hotpot set, they also offer Thai-style a la carte. Some must-order dishes are steamed sea bass in soy sauce (B448) and stir-fried catfish with chili paste (B248). But if you’re not big on the fish menu, their stir-fried squid in salted eggs (B278) and stir-fried pork with shrimp paste (B218) makes an equally satisfying spread.

In the future, Park Kret is planning to expand their food selection with their very own fish and chips shop, highlighting Thai fish once again.
