Last night, two Bangkok bars made it all the way up to the top 20 on The World’s 50 Best Bars list. Congratulations are in order for the new entry Mahaniyom Cocktail Bar, which came in at No.19, but Four Seasons’ BKK Social Club took the top spot in Thailand with the 13th spot—as well as the Best Bar in Asia Award. 

The highly anticipated results were announced live in Singapore—the first time for the event to be held in Asia. 

Coming in at No.13, BKK Social Club is no stranger on the Best Bars List, having previously been crowned No.10 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022, No.14 on World’s 50 Best Bars 2022, and No.3 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2023. Located in the Four Seasons Bangkok, the bar’s signature drink “Evita” features pineapple rum, campari, aperol, citrus mix, bay lead, and cinnamon syrup. 

But the big news for bar lovers who like their drinks nose-to-tail is the first year entry, Mahaniyom, which came in impressively high at 19. Founded by Chennarong “Janz” Bhumichitr and Onnaporn “Neung” Kanivichaporn of the hidden speakeasy Find the Locker Room, the signature cocktails here are named after each drink’s primary ingredient, efficiently and creatively produced to minimize waste. 

Last week, two Bangkok bars made it into the 51-100 World’s 50 Best Bars 2023 list: Silom-based Vesper ranked 55th and Charoenkrung’s Tropic City came in at 66th.

For 2023’s World’s 50 Best Bars, last year’s third place winner, Sips from Barcelona now holds first. This year’s runner up goes to Double Chicken Please from New York, and third place goes to Handshake Speakeasy from Mexico. View the full list here.
