From delicious street food to axe throwing, Soi Pridi Banomyong has a little something for everyone. This street may not be the prettiest, with its heavy traffic and eclectic collection of shops, but it houses a mine full of hidden gems.

Coffee & Breakfast

Step into Ma Collab Space & Cafe and take in the Instagram-ready aesthetics, or for a completely different feel, head over to the charming Balcony 31 across the street for a refreshing Thai milk tea (B40) and a hearty breakfast of radna (fried noodles and vegetables topped with a thick sauce, B45) surrounded by antiques. Take a rest at the refreshingly green Kreum Cafe with their homemade lemon cheesecake (B140) and a cup of Kreum matcha latte (B110). Escape the heat with some snowy watermelon shaved ice (B159/large) at OT Cafe. Head further down to Soi 26 to popular Karo Coffee Roasters to try their hot filter coffee (B150).

Lunch & Dinner

Anyone will agree that when it comes to Soi Pridi, street food is the main attraction. Try the perpetually crowded Ayutthaya Boat Noodle Pridi Banomyong 39 (B30) or Beef Noodle Anansak Singsomboon (B60). The dry shrimp wonton and barbecue pork egg noodles (B50) at famous Bamee Pu Kwangtung is an absolute must-try. For a more hip, air-conditioned setting, hit up Sago Tree Dish & Spoon Cafe for their fried softshell crab with garlic and chili (B260) and their gaeng som cha-om (B150). Okinawa Restaurant Kinjo is also a neighborhood favorite, thanks to filling dishes like their Okinawa soba (B159) and Spam nigiri (B130) washed down with draft Asahi (B69/glass).

BK ASKS

What makes Soi Pridi such a good place to live?

Ramsri Phohom, owner of Balcony 31
“There are many condos and different kinds of people living on Soi Pridi. It’s near a market and the building prices aren’t too high. It’s also one of the few places where you can still find olden (bolan) style houses, which I think is pretty special.”

Andy Hong, former St. Andrew’s student
“From eating at my favorite Korean barbecue joint to fulfilling my daily coffee runs, Soi Pridi is the place where I get most of my errands done. It connects to a lot of other sub-sois, which makes driving through really convenient, too.”

Phatpitcha “Minnie” Suksangwarn, owner of Hoppy Hrs
"Phra Khanong is one of the coolest neighborhoods in Bangkok right now. It has all the ingredients to become the next Thonglor. It’s one of the cheapest places to stay, too, with tons of street food stalls and cafes."
