Cure your cabin fever with TAT’s virtual tours of Thailand
Explore ancient temples and mangrove forests.
Is self-isolation starting to drive you up the wall? After over a month indoors, the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s new virtual tours offer a much needed dose of escapism. Covering 10 attractions across nine different provinces, these 3D tours of historic sites and natural wonders have us dreaming of our next trip.
In the north, you can get a glimpse of ancient Sukhothai’s Wat Si Chum, which houses Phra Achana, an impressive 15-meter-high, 11-meter-wide Buddha image, or take a moment to reflect at Phayao’s beautiful Tai Yai (Shan-style) Wat Nantaram.
In Isaan’s Nakhon Ratchasima, take a virtual walk through Phimai Historical Park, home to one of Thailand’s largest Khmer temples, or head east to take a coastal jaunt through the mangrove forest at Chanthaburi’s peaceful Kung Kraben Bay. See how nature has taken over at the tree-entangled Wat Bang Kung in Samut Songkhram or head south to explore the art of Thai shadow puppetry at Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Ban Nang Talung Suchart Subsin.
