More good news for locally made booze.

Hair of the Dog Liquid Lobotomy IPA

Hair of the Dog’s aptly-named Liquid Lobotomy IPA ties in nicely with the bar’s spooky, asylum theme. Flavor-wise, it's as bold and adventurous as the bar decor. The dark, amber-colored IPA has just enough fruity, hoppy sweetness to offset its bitterness. A small 330ml glass costs B250, but at 7.7% ABV you won’t need more than a couple to get you going. Available exclusively at both Hair of the Dog branches (Phloen Chit, 02-650-7589; Phrom Phong, 02-030-2538).

Chalong Bay Lime Specials

Phuket-made Chalong Bay's launch of two new rum flavors—lime and kaffir lime—means mojitos just got even more delicious. The kaffir lime-infused alcohol won bronze at the International Wine and Spirits Competition, thanks to its organic Thai ingredients. Expect bottles to crop up behind the bar at various Bangkok drinking holes, as well as restaurants such as Crying Thaiger. The flavors should also hit the supermarket shelves by the end of month, priced at around B850.

Golden Coins

The local craft brewery has two new beers: King of Coins Double IPA and Yaowarat Pale Ale. At a whopping 8.5% ABV, King of Coins hides its strength under a medium body and a lightly bitter taste. For the Yaowarat Pale Ale, Golden Coins wants to create a pale ale that hits drinkers hard with bitterness and a full body—the answer, they reckon, to pairing Thai-Chinese food with craft beer. Grab them at Bottles of Beer (Sukhumvit Soi 34, 02-040-0473) and Mash (Soi Convent, 089-692-5666). B180-220.
