The Beauty Library, a hair and nail salon near EmQuartier, offers low-chemical hair treatments and herbal manicures. Beauty treatments using chemicals can have nasty effects on people with allergies and pregnant women. But everyone else can also benefit from putting fewer chemicals on their head. Here’s what to expect.
 
 

LOW-CHEMICAL HAIR TREATMENTS

The Beauty Library uses hair products from British brand Organic Colour Systems and Japanese brand Milbon. Organic Colour Systems produces dyes that are certified 95-percent naturally derived. Balayage or ombre hair coloring treatment using Organic Colour Systems’ products. (including the mandatory pre-treatment) Price starts at B3500. If you’re after a complex shade like ash gray, they’ll treat your hair with low-chemical, Japanese-imported Milbon products instead. Milbon claims their products actually repair damaged hair while coloring at the same time.
 
 

HERBAL MANICURE

Waan sao long, or Amomum Biflorum, has been used by Thailand’s Northeastern and Northern locals for generations as a perfume as well as to improve blood circulation. The Beauty Library’s “Thai Legendary Herbs Hand and Feet Spa” program utilizes this rare local treasure alongside nine other herbs with strong antioxidant properties for one of the sweetest smelling, most refreshing manicures in town. The program costs B1,300.
