Star Wars mooncakes are officially a thing and you can get them in Bangkok
The force is strong with this year’s lunar festival.
Hong Kong’s Maxim’s (Mei-Xin) Mooncake, popular for its lava-filled salted egg yolk mooncake (which won our blind taste test last year), will be available in Bangkok again. And this time they'll be offering some pretty out-there packaging.
The limited-edition Star Wars metal box sets come in two varieties, each containing four lava-filled mooncakes inside. The black Darth Vader box holds chocolate-flavored cakes bearing the Galactic Empire sign, while rather oddly the white Stormtrooper box contains custard lava cakes bearing the Rebel Alliance emblem.
Each box sets you back B1,099 and will be available in August. Meanwhile, a normal eight-piece custard box is B1,350 and four-piece chocolate is B855.
You can now pre-order and get a 10-percent discount (ends Jul 15) at Line ID: meixinthailand or tel. 096-885-4874. Don’t miss their award-winning white lotus seed ones, too.
