Adidas Thailand backflips on only selling NMDs to customers dressed in head-to-toe Adidas
Whatever happened to brand loyalty?
After much criticism, Adidas Thailand has backflipped on its announcement to only sell limited-edition NMD shoes to customers decked out head-to-toe in Adidas outfits.
The announcement two days ago made international headlines, but a Facebook post this morning says the deal is off.
When the NMD R1 PK and NMD City Sock shoes go on sale at Adidas Original Concept Store Siam Center, Nimmanhaemin Chiang Mai and Central Festival Pattaya beach tomorrow morning (May 28), they will be available to everyone willing to queue up well before the 7am opening time, and not just those wearing at least three Adidas items (top, bottom and sneakers—strictly no sandals or slides) as originally claimed.
The other restrictions still apply: customers are limited to one pair each and will not be allowed to try them on first.
Meanwhile, Carnival Store (Siam Square) is asking customers to register with their desired models and sizes from 8-10am to go into a lucky draw.
But even this latest announcement has been met by criticism from Bangkok sneakerheads. One popular comment on Facebook reads: “Release more products, I don’t like it when there’s this many rules, it’s distasteful. Right now I’m starting to look at other brands with similar models, which are just as nice. Adidas may end up disappointed because they’re not valuing consumers.”
