O.P.E.N. Festival opens today. Here's what to catch
Highlights include interactive art tour 15 Stations and tons of movie screenings at The Projector
Art buffs are in for a treat as the second edition of The O.P.E.N., the pre-festival for the upcoming Singapore International Festival of Arts, opens today with photography show The Price of Neglect by Chinese artist Lu Guang at DECK. Not only that, there are loads more cool art shows to check out over the coming weeks. These are the highlights:
A self-led tour of the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. The augmented reality tour 15 Stations pulls up videos, interviews, games or images when you point your phone’s camera at specific landmarks through a downloadble app when you participate in the tour which lasts for 30 minutes.
Lots of funky performance art. We're most excited about BIOMASHUP, a kind of history of dance set to electronic music. Also unmissable is Brazilian one-man-show by Cristian Duarte The Hot One Hundred Choreographers.
A slew of amazing films at The Projector. The festival is working with the indie theater at Golden Mile Tower to screen a number of exciting movies and documentaries, most notably Horse Money, Pedro Costa's take on the immigrants in Portugal (Jun 21), This Is Not A Film, Iranian director Jafar Panafi's film about home censorship (Jun 29) and Citizenfour, the celebrated documentary about Edward Snowden (Jun 30).
Almost all shows are accessible via an Open Pass purchase ($45), while students get an additional $20 discount. Log on here to view the full calendar and buy tickets.
