Where to get good hummus in Singapore
Because today is International Hummus Day.
May 13 is International Hummus Day and there's only one way to celebrate: by treating yourself to some tasty hummus. Here are five places to get your fix.
The casual Mediterannean restaurant does little wrong and it's no different when it comes to their hummus. Here, it's usually part of their daily ever-changing roster mezze platter. But, you can also get a small portion of it, which comes with pita.
Forgive the mandatory and vaguely Middle Eastern decor that features plenty of wood, mirrors and heavy drapes, as the food here is genuinely good. Their dips are made in-house and are well-spiced and seasoned. While you can order a portion of the dip, it's also nice to order the mezze platter that comes with other dips like baba ganoush and moutabal with warm pita.
The vinyl cocktail bar may look like a sleek speakeasy, but it's gotten some flavor from its Haji Lane location. On the menu is a pretty mean bowl of hummus with Egyptian dukkah spice and a touch of sesame, cumin and fresh lemon. The serving also comes with warm pillowy pitas from Pita Bakery just next door.
The stalwart Holland Village Mediterannean restaurant makes a stellar mezze platter with hummus included. The platter for two comes with aromatic pumpkin and carrot puree, baba ganoush, tzatziki and falafel. With pita, of course.
Tuck into a generous portion of hummus while you watch movies. You can have it there or in a takeaway container that's loaded with EVOO and Middle Eastern spices. It comes with a generous amount of pita and baguette, too.
