Poolside drinking sessions, sweaty block parties, uber-glam club nights. Take your pick.

It's a long weekend, and you should spend it dancing. Whether clubs are your thing, or the balmy, breezy outdoors are more your scene, there are plenty of opportunities to get your dance on. Here are some ideas.

At the clubs (to relive your youth)

Kyo is doing a Good Friday special. Poptart: Hold Me Deep Beneath Your Waves has KiDG and welikeme spinning indie rock, pop hits and electro, and it's just $20-25 to get in.

If hip hop is more your thing, there's AOS and Ollie Des at Refuge. It's free to get in if you RSVP via their Facebook page.

At a glamourous new club night

Catalunya has teamed up with the Podium Lounge people to create a weekend club night with a roster of international DJs, VIP packages and the works. On Fri, it's DJs Shigeki from Japan and Farhan C from the UK, and on Saturday, it's an Israeli double whammy with Orio and Rocco.

In a Chinatown vault

Formerly the premises of The Vault, CATO opened in the second half of last year, but has recently really stepped up its nightlife game, throwing nearly nightly parties with lots of visiting DJs. Australian techno bigwig Paul Scott is spinning there on Saturday.

In the streets

Koi Izakaya is having yet another street party on Haji Lane. Nothing But a Street Thang will have DJs spinning ska, reggae, disco and soul from 8pm to 2am. It's free to enter, though do load up on the burgers and beers.

If you're busy Saturday, head down on Sunday where CAD Cafe is having its monthly block party, with RAH from Darker Than Wax and other hip hop and drum n' bass DJs in the line-up. There will also be burgers and beer by Archipelago.

By the pool

Italian house DJ Stefano Ritteri will be at the Eyes to the Front Pool Party at Sofitel So on Saturday. It's $20 to get in (with a free drink) before 4pm, and there are $12 beers and house wines and $15 house pours throughout the evening.
