If you want to go to a club but can’t commit to an ultra dance-a-thon, Tanjong Pagar’s newest nightlife opening walks a great middle path.

The Shavencat (can’t get over it) has two sections: the club is a low-ceilinged, pink-tinged, tiny-mirrored little affair, with a squeaky clean new set up of leather couches around the periphery, an open-concept bar in the middle of the floor and a stage which features 14-member live band Hot Shock delivering Mandarin pop after 10pm.

Need more convincing? On Wednesdays, from 6:30-9:30pm, ladies get free-flow bubbly for $50.

For a more laid-back experience, head to The Shavencat’s semi-alfresco area on the street corner. At the bar that opens out into the sidewalk, you can grab a drink, huddle with your buddies and watch the sun set over Tanjong Pagar Road.
