Planning to go off the rails this weekend? Launched in December 2023, Pili Pala Drunken Room is Silom’s latest destination, drawing in patrons with locomotive designs and fruity signature cocktails.
Due to its narrow layout, the team decided to add curved ceilings and stylized walls so the interiors resemble a New York subway tunnel. The compact 30 seats allow for a cozy hangout sesh, like sitting shoulder to shoulder and chatting on the train ride home—an unpretentious drinking venue where you can truly let your hair down.
Some of the partners are involved in the city’s hidden gems like Local Wine Bar and the rooftop bar with a porridge speciality, Happening Dine and Bar. Co-owner Thanutporn “Pom” Ajchariyakulporn tells BK that Pili Pala is another passion project that started from the group’s shared love for bar hopping.
“Thailand has so many fruits so it’s great to take full advantage of that,” says Pom
Here, the signatures are all about fruit infused alcohols. It’s the type of harmless sweet and sour low-ABV drinks that go down easily but are actually quite intense.
For your first glass, try the refreshing Strawberry Cup (B420) which covers the gin-base notes and bitterness with freshly infused fruits.
For a taste of the classics, the Cacao Old Fashioned (B490) takes the cocktail’s main ingredients and mixes it with Flor De Cana coffee beans and cacao. The end result is a fragrant caffeinated concoction that’s just the right amount of sweet. Another adaptation is the Grape Manhattan (B420). Already strong in its original form, the bar had a little fun by splashing in some Suntory Kyoho liquor and adding a frozen grape.
The venue also carries a selection of natural wines, craft beers, mocktails, and customisable classics.
To capture the underground vibes, live DJs will be spinning every Thurs-Sat, genre hopping from disco, house, hip-hop, and 90s classics to contemporary music.
