Royal Oak, a favorite for the pub-going Phrom Phong crowd, announced last Friday that they will be closed for the entire month of May.
A runner up for Best Pub at this year’s Bangkok After Dark (BAD) Awards, the Royal Oak will be closed for renovations. A pub known for its simple if slightly rustic interior, they will be quick to reopen on Thu, Jun 1.
Home to simple pub food, sports on screens, quiz nights and an accessible happy hour, the space upstairs also hosts the stylings of the Comedy Club Bangkok, which sees acts both big and small on their way through Bangkok. But, fear not comedy fans; while the Comedy Club Bangkok is closed this Friday, it will be open May 12 and 19, and possibly for shows on the 13th.
Well situated on Sukhumvit Soi 33/1 within easy walking distance of something a bit more specialized like Hair of the Dog, Royal Oak is a mainstay of the pub scene and a favorite for early day drinking—with a very nice weekend roast.
595/10, Sukhumvit Soi 33/1, 02-662-1650. Open daily 9am-midnight.
