Regulars to the nightlife strip of Thong Lor may already have noticed that the small wooden door of one of Bangkok's most iconic bars, Iron Fairies, has been firmly closed for the past few weeks. Having spoken to the mad genius behind it all, Ashley Sutton, we can confirm that his long-running grievances with the landlord have seen him close the doors on this eclectic drinking den. Fortunately for fans of Victoriana-inspired fantasy (and Singaporean tourists) it's only temporary. Showing the kind of vision that has made him such a pioneer of the local nightlife scene, Sutton has been planning ahead and has been busily building Iron Fairies #2 for the past seven months. The new version, which will be pretty much identical to the old one, is situated just two shophouses down from the old place and is set to open at the end of May.
