Sugar Ray
Baan Ekkamai Soi 21. 086-547-4633.

Sat right across from Moose Ekkamai, the brand new Sugar Ray delivers an exclusive vibe to the neighborhood. The bar is a collaboration between syrup-maker team Socrates and the folks behind What If Café in Sukhumvit Soi 31. Make it behind the big steel doors and you'll find yourself in a small and cozy room filled with vintage knick-knacks. A low table-cum-cocktail bar sits in one nook, DJ decks in another. Drinks-wise the place puts the focus on cocktails made with Socrates syrup with a small selectiong of beers. Prices aren't exactly cheap at B300-plus, but the intimate atmosphere is something rare. Plus you can always order one of the cocktails that lets you play cards against a bartender for a chance to double your order. Do note, they're only open three days a week—Wed, Fri and Sat. Mikkeller
26 Ekkamai Soi 10, Yaek 2. 02-381-9891.
After quite a long wait, Mikkeller opened its doors to great fanfare last month on Ekkamai Soi 10. This microbrewery originated in Denmark is one of the first “gypsy” microbrewers, which means they produce unique brews around the world in other people’s breweries, and is recognized for its experimental approach, limited batches and for challenging expectations. Set in a modern-meets-rustic house-turned-bar with unique beers, you've plenty of reasons to pay them a visit. They're also promising some pretty potent beer cocktails. Today (Feb 15), they're throwing a garden BBQ. Check out their Facebook page.

Half of Vivant Table is dedicated to a garden with a rustic vibe—just the sort of comforting space to drink the night away. The Western dishes come courtesy of Japanese Chef Uchida Yousuke and Thai Chef Kraisorn Seekhab, and include cold cuts (B320/B580), pork chop (B320) and pizza pepperoni (B270). Signature cocktails start from B270, while there’s a wide range of wines to sip in the dimly-lit polished wine bar downstairs.

Ink & Lion Cafe
17/1 Ekkamai Soi 2. 091-559-0994.

Amid an industrial vibe adorned with old bikes, bare bricks and wooden furniture, Ink & Lion Café mainly served coffee which they does both espresso machine and slow drip coffee. The barista, Adithep Pinijpinyo, sources his beans from local roasters such as Brave Roasters, Pacamara and Ceresia. Munch on the pastries, like lemon tart (B45) and coconut cake (B45), made by Size S Coffee & Bakery (Soi Ngamduplee), while taking a peek at the rotating exhibitions. Coffee here starts at B75. But they also serve a small range of craft beers, meaning you can spend some downtime here before hitting some neighboring clubs.
