After gaining a top 10 place on Asia’s 50 Best Bars’ list 2018, Bamboo Bar now has its own vodka.
Barrelhouse 53 is a collab with craft alcohol importer Bootleggers (known for their yummy Plantation Pineapple Rum) and Malai rum.
Using sweet potato rather than sugar cane or rice as its main ingredient, the vodka rings with earthy notes and a long finish.
Though it isn’t retailing yet, you can head to Bamboo Bar and ask Jamie Rhind for a tasting shot.
You can also get a taste of it in the current Compass menu with the Isaan-inspired Get the Mortar (B420), which mixes the vodka with clarified tomato, papaya, palm sugar and a hit of chili for a surprisingly true taste of the somtam.
