This huge event brings together 380 craftspeople from across Thailand
Crafts Bangkok 2020 is here, and it’s bigger than ever
If you like crafts and other handmade trinkets, Crafts Bangkok 2020, happening this Sep 3-6, is going to be your kind of event. Taking place at the mammoth Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC), the event brings together over 380 local artisans and organizations from across Thailand to display and sell their wares, including fabric work (silk, cotton, hemp, etc.), basketry, jewelry, pottery, leather and other arts and crafts. The event is hosted by the SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Center of Thailand (Sacict), one of the country's most important promotional vehicles for locally-made crafts.
In addition to the booths and sellers, the event also includes some educational talks that cover a range of issues relevant to supporting local arts and crafts -- such as business and promotional models that sellers can mimic for their own businesses or side hustles. Sacict anticipates the event will draw a very mixed bag of visitors, including retailers, government agencies, families, online merchants and maybe the odd tourist or two who’s still trapped here.
