It's almost December, which means the long-promised Downtown Line 2 will finally be open. We know you're dying to ride it all over Little India, Bukit Timah and the Botanic Gardens. Well, you can do it for free if you go on Dec 5.

From 10am-6pm, you can ride across the 12 new stations. (Al-Azhar Eating Restaurant at the Beauty World stop has some good prata.) Six of the stations--Rochor, Little India, Newton, Botanic Gardens, Beauty World and Bukit Panjang--will also have games, celebs and activities, if you're into that sort of thing. 

And, as with all major civic openings in town, there will be a free-to-the-public period for the Downtown Line (the original stops and the new ones), from Dec 27-Jan 1. 

In case you missed it, the DTL2 aims to cut the commute from Bukit Panjang to Bugis by 20 minutes and provide transfers to the LRT (at Bukit Panjang station), Circle Line (at Botanic Gardens station), North-South Line (at Newton station) and North-East Line (at Little India station).

Just in time for post-midnight NYE getting-home shenanigans!
