Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat (Locale 01 Pinklao-Ratchapreuk)

Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat was built during the reign of King Rama III, and was given the award of Architectural Preservation by Association of Siamese Architects. The beautiful ordination hall and pagoda are surrounded by wonderful greenery, and it’s also right by the Chao Phraya River. This means the temple is never without a visitor. Take your children out for a picnic in the Thai House by the river. If you’re lucky, you might even get a glimpse of the peacock that lives inside the temple grounds as well.

Thanam-Nonthaburi Road

Suan Santichaiprakarn (Locale 05 Sathorn-Ratchapreuk)

There’s nothing better than relaxing under the shade while admiring the Chao Phraya River as the sunlight hits the water. You’ll be surrounded by the beauty of the old town on this historic road, while Suan Santichaiprakarn provides a park for everyone – you’ll find children running around and grandparents doing their weekly exercises. Some weekends, you’ll even find teenagers practising their street dance routines.

Phra Athit Road

Suan Benjasiri (Locale 09 Sukhumvit-On Nut)

Suan Benjasiri is another well-known public park among locals and tourists. In the evening, it becomes a popular outdoor area to get some exercise. You’ll also see children playing tag and skateboarding teenagers – so pick a good spot to chill under the trees, right by the lake. The park is easily accessible via BTS Phrom Phong, and is a venue for the occasional free weekend concerts.

Sukhumvit Road

Suan Nawaminphirom (Locale 07 Rama IX-Ramkhamhaeng)

We guarantee that Suan Nawaminphirom will impress every visitor with its surrounding nature and the vast body of water, Lampungpuay Pond (part of the Kaem Ling Water Project). Relax and picnic to the sound of the birds before heading to the activities space to get some stretches done. The cute little fountains are also selfie-worthy.

Sri Burapa Road

Thammasart University (Locale 05 Sathorn-Ratchapreuk)

This might seem like an unexpected venue for a picnic, but the large grounds and facilities of the university make Pridi Banomyong Ground, just by the river, a hit check-in point where visitors come to chill. The university is open to the public, and there’s no need to worry if you haven’t prepared your picnic basket – Tha Phrachan is full of delicious food, from duck noodle to squid cakes and garlic fried pork.

Phra Chan Road

Suan Luang Rama IX (Locale 10 Bangna-Srinakarin)

This is the largest public park in Bangkok, covering an area of over 500 rai, which provides ample room for activities, including a tennis court, a swimming pool, bike lanes and different gardens full of herbs and flowers. Srinakarin Road

Suan Seri Thai (Locale 04 Kasetnawamin-Ramintra)

Here’s another public park that operates as part of the Kaem Ling Water Project. Suan Seri Thai covers 350 rai, which means there are lots of points of interest, such as the Seri-Thai Memorial Museum and garden areas as well as plenty of space for a stroll after a fun picnic. And since you’re already in the area, save some room for another meal at the decades-old Wirot Boat Noodles, well-known for its delicious broth.

Seri Thai Road

Suan Thonburirom (Locale 08 Suksawat-Ratburana)

This local relaxation spot for people in the area covers over 60 rai, and was the first public park on the Thonburi side. At Suan Thonburirom, you’ll feel a vintage vibe from the old days as you walk across the old wooden bridge, stroll along on the retro footpaths and admire the colors of the flowers on the side. Stop for a nice break by the coconut trees or the lotus pond.

Bhuttabusha Road

Suan Wachira Benjatat (Suan Rod Fai) (Locale 06 Asoke-Ratchadaphisek)

One of the most well-known public parks in the city is fully equipped with facilities like basketball courts, badminton courts, a swimming pool, kayaks and a bike lane of 3.2km that stretches across the park. Haven’t got your food? You can easily grab something from the convenience store by the entrance. We recommend that you pick a bike with a basket and cycle around for a perfect spot to munch away with your family.

Makut Rommayasaran Park (Locale 02 Rattanathibet-Ngamwongwan)
