Bangkok moved one step closer to its old, intoxicated normal yesterday when the top tourism official broached the topic of lifting the booze curfew for hotel restaurants and bars.

 

Tourism authority Gov. Yuthasak Supasorn announced that he had proposed doing so to the CCSA, which will likely take it up when it meets this afternoon.

 

Since Thailand’s Nov. 1 soft opening, restaurants have been allowed to serve alcohol 5pm to 9pm so long as they fully comply with health measures.

 

The proposal, if comes into force today, would allow guests to drink during their stays at the hotels. Don’t plan on bringing any new friends back for a nightcap – only registered guests would be allowed to do so.

 

He also said tourists will also no longer be required to take a full swab test upon checking in, which requires upward of six hours to get the results before they can leave their rooms. 

 

To make it more convenient, he proposed ATK tests, but the decision rests with CCSA.
