Only valid hipsters need apply

Because every bit of discount on that $6.50 flat white (made using sustainably-sourced beans, of course) counts, some folks have decided to offer a membership card that’ll benefit those who frequent Singapore’s hip neighborhood of Tiong Bahru, a place where third wave cafes continue their dominance.

The first membership card centered around a neighborhood, the newly launched Tiong Bahru Card currently offers up to 20 percent savings (among other benefits like 1-for-1 deals) at 26 participating shops from across an assortment of lifestyle categories.

Some key participating merchants include the likes of Plain Vanilla Bakery, Booksactually, Creamier, Canjob Taproom, and Ziva Yoga. Places not found within the main Tiong Bahru estate area like The Lokal, Toby’s Estate, and The Carvery, are also involved—guess their definition of where Tiong Bahru is isn’t that strict.

In any case, it’ll set you back $9.90 monthly for the card (cheaper if you purchase it in six- or nine-month blocks), so do your math before you buy. And if you do, you’ll get to have a physical membership card mailed to you within seven working days; so you can flash that plastic like the true hipster you are.
